A Restorative Drying Lexicon
- Air mover
- A high-power fan, specially configured in a protective case. When deployed
in quantity, it speeds the evaporation process.
- Desiccant dehumidifier
- A blower-driven device which circulates humid air across a water-adsorbent
material in order to extract large quantities of moisture-laden air from
flooded structures.
- Extraction device
- A combination vacuum and pumping system used
to remove water and debris from soaked carpets.
- Non-penetrating moisture meter
- An electrical device that measures moisture content
by creating a weak electrical field between two electrodes. It then compares
power loss between the two as a means to determine moisture levels.
- Penetrating resistance meter
- A two-pole pin probe similar to non-penetrating
meters that uses variations in resistance in otherwise inaccessible areas
to determine moisture content.
- Refrigerant dehumidifier
- A flow of moist air over chilling coils results
in humidity-laden air giving up moisture as condensation, which is then
readily disposed of.
